Terms of Use
Last updated: 22 July 2026
These terms apply when you use payexpert.com.au (“PayExpert”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you accept them. If you don’t, please don’t use the site.
1. What PayExpert is
PayExpert provides free calculators for Australian pay, tax and superannuation, along with salary data and written guides. It is an information service. You don’t need an account, and we don’t charge you to use it.
2. General information only — not advice
Nothing on PayExpert is financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and nothing on it takes your personal circumstances into account. Our calculators produce estimates based on published ATO rates and the assumptions we state on each page. Real outcomes depend on details we don’t ask for — your full income picture, offsets, deductions, residency, employment arrangements, HECS/HELP balance, private health cover, and how your employer actually withholds tax.
Salary figures are market estimates drawn from third-party data and voluntary community submissions. They describe what a market appears to pay; they are not an offer, a guarantee, a valuation of your work, or a prediction of what any employer will pay you.
Before you make a decision that matters — accepting a job, negotiating pay, lodging a return, restructuring your super — talk to a registered tax agent, accountant or licensed financial adviser.
3. Accuracy
We work hard to keep our tax logic correct and our data current, and our calculations are tested against published ATO examples. Even so, we don’t warrant that everything on the site is accurate, complete or up to date. Rates and thresholds change, third-party data can be wrong or stale, and errors happen. If you spot something wrong, please tell us — we’d genuinely like to know.
4. Salary submissions
When you submit salary information, you agree that:
- the information is truthful and accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- it relates to your own employment, and sharing it doesn’t breach a contract, confidentiality obligation or agreement you’re bound by;
- you don’t include information identifying you or anyone else, or anything defamatory, unlawful or confidential;
- you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store and publish that information in de-identified and aggregated form as part of PayExpert.
We review submissions before publication and may edit, decline or remove any submission at our discretion — particularly ones that look implausible. Deliberately submitting false data to distort the dataset is a breach of these terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, harvest or bulk-download the site or its data, or use automated tools to submit information;
- republish our salary datasets as your own product or service, or attempt to rebuild our dataset from our pages;
- interfere with the site’s operation or security, or try to access administrative areas or data you’re not entitled to;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
Reasonable personal use — including quoting a figure with a link back to the relevant page — is welcome.
6. Intellectual property
The site’s design, text, code, calculators and compiled datasets belong to us or our licensors. The PayExpert name and wordmark are ours.
Some content comes from third parties on their own terms. In particular, our labour-market figures (employment size, growth and workforce demographics) are derived from Jobs and Skills Australia data, © Commonwealth of Australia, used under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. Tax rates and thresholds are published by the Australian Taxation Office. Market salary figures are sourced from third-party providers and remain subject to their rights.
7. Availability
We aim to keep PayExpert available, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site — including calculators, data or pages — at any time, without notice.
8. Third-party links
The site links to third-party websites (the ATO, Jobs and Skills Australia and others) for your convenience. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that:
- the site and its content are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind;
- we aren’t liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site — including financial loss from decisions made on the basis of our estimates;
- where liability can’t be excluded, our liability is limited to re-supplying the relevant information.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
